Kristin “Kris” Hughes, age 70, of Cascade, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 25, 2021.
Kris was born on March 2, 1951, in Grafton, Wisconsin, to the late Richard and Helen (Rilling) Goldberg.
Kris graduated from Grafton High School in 1969.
On Sept. 27, 1980, she married the love of her life, Warren “Jim” Hughes Jr., in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.
Jim preceded her in death on March 9, 2000.
Kris’s core passion was serving her community. On March 8, 2000, she assumed her husband’s seat as a
Town of Lyndon Board Supervisor on the eve of Jim’s passing. In 2010, she was elected as Chairperson of
the Town of Lyndon, a role she held until her passing. Kris relished spending her days in the office with
Rhonda J. Klatt and the team at the Town of Lyndon.
Her second biggest passion was golf. In the summertime, there was never a bad day to spend on the
course. Kris was a member of Riverdale Country Club in Sheboygan, where she won 13 course
championships, as well as Quit Qui Oc Golf Club in Elkhart Lake, where she had similar success in
winning 10 course championships. Kris cherished the close friendships she fostered throughout her
lifetime of playing golf, and her closest golfing companions were genuinely like family to her.
Whether it was her scheduled weekly chats with friends or enjoying a few Castillo Rum and Diet Cokes
after a round of golf, Kris loved and savored every moment with her family and friends. When it was
time to get away, she loved her annual trips to Arizona, trips to her cabin in Winter, Wisconsin, with her
family, or a musky fishing trip with her friend, Sheri Meyers. And there was nothing she loved more
than her daily visits from her granddogs, Remmy and Ellie.
Kris’s life represented the ideal balance between community, family, friends, faith and fun. In the wake of
her passing, Kris’s family asks her loved ones to strive for the same. Give back as you can, be kind and
make time for the things you love most in life. And never forget to say, “I love you”.
Survivors include her daughter, Kimberly Hughes (fiancé Brian Kuehl) of Cascade; two stepsons, Nick (Jill)
Hughes of Wauwatosa and Curt (Christine) Hughes of Stewartville, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Ethan
and Lauren Hughes of Wauwatosa and Caitlyn and Cayden Hughes of Stewartville, Minnesota; two
brothers, Thomas Goldberg of Grafton and Timothy Goldberg of Wautoma; a niece, Tricia Murtha
(special friend Dennis); a nephew, Rick (Liz) Goldberg; a great-niece, Alexandra Murtha; a great-nephew,
RJ Goldberg; and her granddogs, Phoebe, Remmy and Ellie. Adoring family members further survive her.

and Adeline Hughes; a stepson, Todd Hughes; a granddaughter, Cydney Hughes; sisters-in-law, Nancy
Van DeLoo and Patricia Goldberg; brother-in-law, Thomas Hughes; and her beloved dog, Babe.
