MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers’ lead in the National League Central Division is up to seven games after Avisaíl García’s two-run homer in the eighth inning gave the Milwaukee Brewers a 5-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds at American Family Field on Thursday night.
Keston Hiura and Jace Peterson also plated runs for the Crew. Devin Williams got the win in relief while Josh Hader picked up his 21st save of the season.
Brad Brach suffered his first loss as a member of the Reds after he served up the eventual game-winning two-run home run in his relief appearance. Brach managed to get just one out while allowing three hits during the eighth inning.
Game two of the four-game series is set for Friday night. Eric Lauer is scheduled to start for Milwaukee while the Reds will counter with Wade Miley.
