SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – No new cases of coronavirus were recorded within Sheboygan County in the past 24-hours, and another 3 persons have recovered leaving just 6 active cases of COVID-19. That’s the lowest number of active cases since April 29th. The lone person hospitalized with the coronavirus yesterday was released, and the remaining active cases are in home isolation.
Within Wisconsin, a new high of 6,469 persons were tested for the coronavirus, as many testing stations are now encouraging those showing no symptoms to be tested. Sheboygan County, though, still asks that a provider order the tests. 410 persons out of all tested in Wisconsin were positive, raising the state total to 11,685 and yielding a positive percentage from all tests of 6.3%…a slight drop from the 6.4% on Thursday. 11 more persons died of COVID-19 in the past 24-hours.
Sheboygan County officially launched its “Safe Restart” program to gradually return to normal activity in phases. Phase 1 is effective immediately, and two phases will follow.
The safe restart policy can be found in its entirety at the following link:

The City of Sheboygan has reacted to the State Supreme Court decision that terminated Governor Evers’ extended “Safer at Home” order by issuing a policy on city parks and facilities. Noting that COVID-19 is “very contagious and can be fatal”, the policies aim to encourage proper best practice safety precautions to ensure the community continues to stay safe. Because efforts to contain COVID-19 and not jeopardize progress already made must be maintained, and because the Parks Division of the Department of Public Works doesn’t have the resources to increase the cleaning standards established by the CDC, a phased approach to open park facilities has been implemented. Accordingly, until May 25th, 2020, city parks will remain open…however playgrounds and buildings, shelters and restrooms will remain closed. Beginning May 26th, the day after Memorial Day, the Parks Division will open playgrounds, and will make limited facilities available to rent – provided that gatherings meet the CDC guidelines for proper health and safety. The tentative schedule is subject to change at any time.
