Even as active case numbers of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County have fallen to levels typical of the first week of June last year, so have vaccination rates here fallen to levels not seen since the beginnings of efforts to immunize against the coronavirus.
Data released Tuesday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health indicate only 25 known active cases in Sheboygan County, and only three new cases have been discovered here since last Thursday. 13,896 cases in all have been logged, and 151 persons have died as a result. There are no current hospitalizations in Sheboygan County related to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, vaccinations in the county so far this week number only 56 doses according to data from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. That’s on track to equal totals similar to the first full week of vaccinations in December. 913 doses were administered the week leading up to the July 4th holiday. 48.9% of Sheboygan County residents have received at least one dose, while 46.5%, or 53,646 persons, are now fully vaccinated.
