Sheboygan motorists will be dealing with another major detour soon as crews begin work on Calumet Drive, which also serves as Business Highway 42.
The project to replace damaged or cracked concrete pavement, and repairs to sanitary and storm sewers, involves the road stretching from Erie Avenue on the south to Saemann Avenue on the north. And although closures will occur, they’ll be traded between northbound and southbound lanes.
Beginning Monday, July 12th, northbound Calumet Drive will be closed to all traffic between Erie and Saemann Avenues, while southbound traffic will be restricted to one lane. Once the northbound lanes are finished, one lane will open there while southbound traffic will have to detour entirely. Each segment is expected to last three to five weeks, with detours using Erie Avenue, North 17th Street and Saemann Avenue. The entire project is expected to be completed by Labor Day, weather permitting.
