(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 18, 2021 – As the son of one of the most successful 360 Sprint Car drivers in Plymouth Dirt Track Racing history, it has come as no surprise that 18-year-old Tyler Davis has followed in his father’s footsteps as a regular competitor in the PDTR 360 Sprint Car division at The Plymouth Dirt Track at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, Wis.
The Milwaukee native and current Franklin resident has been closely connected to the sport of dirt track racing for nearly his entire life as his father, Kurt Davis, has been a top competitor in various Sprint Car divisions throughout Southeastern Wisconsin and the Midwest for the past 36 years, compiling a Midwest Sprint Car Association record 63 A-main victories and 25 PDTR 360 Sprint Car main-event wins to go along with five MSA titles and two PDTR 360 Sprint Car championships.
“I’ve grown up at the race track my entire life and I would say I became more interested due to my father,” Davis said.
After learning the ropes as a member of his father’s pit crew, Davis jumped behind the wheel of a Micro Sprint at The Plymouth Dirt Track in 2017. He earned one Micro Sprint A-main victory at The Plymouth Dirt Track before moving to the 360 Sprint Car ranks on a full-time basis in 2019.
Davis, who is set to graduate from Franklin High School on Saturday, June 19, has relished the times he has finished ahead of his father in a 360 Sprint Car race.
“My greatest racing accomplishment so far has been beating my father on the track,” Davis said.
Davis, who recorded a season-best 10th-place showing in the PDTR 360 Sprint Car A main on May 15, says strapping into the seat of a 360 Sprint Car is a feeling unlike any other, which is hard to replicate anywhere else.
“I enjoy the peacefulness I feel when I strap into the race car,” Davis said.
Currently sitting tied for 19th in the PDTR 360 Sprint Car point standings through the first seven nights of the 2021 season, Davis is aiming to find his comfort zone in the driver’s seat for the rest of the year.
“My goal for the remainder of the season is to grow Tyler Davis Racing as a brand and become more consistent in the car,” Davis said.
As far as his future racing plans go, Davis is eager for an opportunity to test his Sprint Car racing skills in a regional or national touring series.
“Looking to the future, I’m hoping to be on the road somewhat by the end of the year in ASCS 360 Sprint Cars probably,” Davis said. “I’d rather race 15 ASCS shows a year than 35 local shows. I’d like to be traveling with any series someday. I would also like to get in an asphalt Late Model sometime.”
The members of the Tyler Davis pit crew include Mike Crawley, Bob Crawley, Chris Grenie, Eddie Mieloch Jenny Gonring, Jenny Keltesch, Zach Krueger, Noelle Fassbender, Andrew Muhar, C.J. Davis, Tim Grenie and Sydney Davis.
Sponsors for the Tyler Davis Racing team are Badger Steel USA, Stone Mountain Access Systems, Days Off Grind, Kristine Hartmann, Realtor, Call Girls Motorsport, RC Trailer Leasing, Wesdon Automotive, Sorce Services, Jensen Sales & Service, Elco Truck Rental, N&S Towing, Hopf Farms, Oak Creek Automotive, Diamond Jim’s Auto Sales, Super Shocks, Buege High Performance, RC Custom Designs, Behling’s, R&H Enterprise, HRP, Rabid Beaver Brush Co. and Jeff Robinson Torsion Bar Rating.
“In addition to all of my crew members and sponsors, I would like to give special thanks to Wing Riders, Matt Rupena and Ken Nickels,” Davis said.
