By all measures, the COVID-19 pandemic in Sheboygan County, as well as in the State of Wisconsin, is receding, with relatively few changes in data within the last 24 hours.
According to the daily update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, no new positive test results have been received in the last 24 hours, and the number of negative tests has been revised downward by one. 13,873 cases have now been identified in Sheboygan County, and active cases were down by 1, to 46 now being monitored. No persons in Sheboygan County were hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported an additional 25 cases of COVID-19 within the last 24 hours, raising the state total to 611,844 for the course of the pandemic. 18 more deaths were attributed to the disease, raising the toll to 7,230.
The Wisconsin Hospital Association noted a net gain of 8 patients statewide, with 133 now hospitalized for COVID-19, 39 of those in ICU beds. 412 patients statewide are on ventilators for life support, 19 more than on Tuesday.
Sheboygan County, as for the State of Wisconsin overall, continues to struggle with reaching even 50% of the population being vaccinated agains the SARS-CoV-2 virus in light of President Biden’s stated goal of 70% with at least one shot by July 4th. Wisconsin has achieved 49.2% of the population with at least one shot; Sheboygan County is at 47.6% as of Wednesday morning, accounting for 54,875 residents, 98 more than on Tuesday. 43.5%, or 50,140 county residents, are fully vaccinated against the virus – 177 more than on Tuesday. Statewide that figure is 44.6%.
