
James W. Karstaedt age 71 of Sheboygan Falls passed away Monday morning June 14, 2021 at Sharon
S. Richardson Community Hospice surrounded by his family.
Jim was born July 10, 1949, at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan to the late Valentine(Hanna) and
Elizabeth (Mahler) Karstaedt. He attended local schools graduating from Sheboygan Falls High School.
He spent most of his career as a farmer but also worked for many years as an insulator for Alpine
Insulation and Nyhof Insulation. On June 20, 1992, he was united in marriage to Virginia Nitsch. Jim
enjoyed fishing, casino trips, gardening, cutting his grass, working on puzzles, watching the Green Bay
Packers and was a great husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa. He will be dearly missed by
all who knew him. Mostly for his comical sense of humor which he was able to keep right up to the end.
Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Virginia; his children, Brian (Susan) Karstaedt, Lisa (Brian)
Schneider, Brenda Prange, and Yvonne (Mark) Diener; step-children, William Schmidt and Tina Willfahrt;
grandchildren, Casey (fiancée: Jackie Brendel) Schneider, Justin (fiancée: Jayla Mineau) Schneider,
Lauren Schneider, Chase Diener, Taylor Diener & Mackenzie Karstaedt; step-grandchildren, Drew &
Derek Willfahart; great grandchildren, Brayden, Ava & Violet Schneider, a brother, Jerry Karstaedt; 2
sisters, Lois Schlichting & Geri (Dan) Hiebing. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and
friends.
A memorial service for Jim will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday June 21, 2021, at the Saron United
Church of Christ, W3830 County Road J, Sheboygan Falls. The Rev. RaeAnn Beebe will officiate.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the church from 3:00 PM until the time of service. For those

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice would be appreciated.
Jim’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses at Sheboygan Memorial, Grafton Aurora, Froedtert
and the Medical college, and staff of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their
compassionate care and support.
