(WHBL) – Lakeshore Technical College students are just completing their spring semester under never-anticipated conditions forced by the pandemic. Meanwhile, the staff there has developed plans it believes will allow students to move forward with their fall semester successfully, comfortably and safely.
The college is transitioning fall courses to serve students both in-person and online through a flexible delivery model called “iFlex.” The system allows students to take courses online, face-to-face, or to flex between the two. Where the previous model forced students to fit into the class schedule, iFlex turns that around so the students can make a schedule that works best for them.
LTC Vice President of Instruction James Lemerond said that prior to COVID-19, the college was already making such plans, but the pandemic provided good reason to finalize those plans in time for the fall schedule. He said that 691 courses in all were transitioned to deal with the pandemic. Still, some courses will need to be done the “old-fashioned way.”
