On July 7, 2020, 44 cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Sheboygan County by the Division of Public Health. Tuesday’s 52 active cases are the lowest noted since then during the pandemic, another sign of the retreating influence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. To compare, at the peak of the pandemic here, 2,634 active cases were recorded on November 24, 2020.
Three new cases were outnumbered by 14 recoveries, lowering the active case count by 11. 13,858 persons in Sheboygan County have battled the virus so far, 146 not surviving, the last death reported on June 2. There are no cases currently hospitalized in Sheboygan County.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded an additional 168 positive test results since Monday, raising the running count for the pandemic to 611,168. 7,178 deaths due to the virus have been confirmed so far, with another 803 listed as “probable”, and a 7-day average of 4 deaths per day is noted as of Tuesday.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reports no net change in the number of COVID patients statewide, with a population of 170, 62 of those in ICU beds. 378 patients in all are on ventilators in Wisconsin.
The pace of vaccinations in Sheboygan County has slowed to less than a few hundred per day, with only 71 more persons having received at least one shot since Monday. That accounts for 46.9% of the county’s population, lagging behind the state’s 48.6% total. 48,416 persons in Sheboygan County are now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, 262 more than on Monday, and comprising an even 42% of the county population. That compares with 43.2% statewide.
