60 active cases of COVID-19 were know to the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health as of Friday’s daily update, the lowest since 55 cases were reported on July 8th last year. Facility-wide investigations have also been trending downward, and have not been updated since May 27th when Sheboygan North and South High Schools were the only institutions with active investigations, which remain open for 28 days since the last possible exposure to an active case.
Three of 43 test results received since Thursday by the County DPH were positive for COVID-19, raising the running county total to 13,849. Hospitalizations were stable at 2.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded 175 new cases of coronavirus infections, and 610,740 have now battled the disease in the state. 21 more deaths were confirmed as due to the disease, raising the toll to 7,150. Another 6 deaths reported since Thursday were “probably” due to COVID-19, and 804 have been so designated to this date.
The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reported a net drop of 9 patients institutionalized for treatment of COVID-19 since Thursday, putting the patient population at 185. 60 of those are in ICU beds, and 372 patients in all are on ventilators.
Since Thursday, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services reports that another 226 Sheboygan County residents had received at least one dose of vaccine. That amounts to 53,744 persons, or 46.6% of the county’s population. 47,553 persons here are now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, accounting for 41.2% of the county population.
