Nine new cases of COVID-19 outnumbered the eight recoveries recorded by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health since Tuesday, raising the active case count by one to 84, and the running case total to 13,819 on Wednesday. There was no net change in hospitalizations, which remain at 3.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services recorded 5 deaths attributed to COVID-19 since Tuesday, and the death toll is now 7,003. 330 new cases pushed the confirmed case count to 609,289, and 46 more persons were hospitalized since Tuesday. The Wisconsin Hospitals Association reported a net drop of 4 patients being treated for coronavirus infections, and 221 persons are currently hospitalized, 69 of those in ICU beds. 363 patients statewide are on ventilators.
40% of Sheboygan County residents, 46,125 in all, are now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and 45.6%, or 52,623 persons, have received at least one shot. Although statistics are still preliminary, 476 doses were administered so far this week, indicating a likely drop in vaccination rates for the week especially considering the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health is offering several walk-in vaccination clinics, including on Thursday, May 27th from 1-5 PM at the Sunnyside Townhouses, and on Friday at 2 PM at the Hispanic Seventh Day Adventist Church at 1337 N. 31st Street. Also, homebound vaccine appointments can be made by calling 920-395-9890 for scheduling.
