Graduation celebrations at Lakeshore Technical College will once again be under the influence of the coronavirus pandemic, as more than 510 students are to be recognized on Saturday with drive-through presentations, live-streamed on Lakeshore’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
According to Lakeshore, the college chose such celebrations due to the ability to commit to and plan for it when uncertainty about holding in-person events was still high.
The online event begins at 9 AM, and the drive-through for over 60 GED and High School Equivalent Degree grads and their families will take place through 10:15 AM. And then from 10:30 AM until 5 PM, nearly 450 LTC students will be awarded college degrees and technical diplomas in their drive-through event, and a virtual live-stream celebration will be on the YouTube and Facebook pages at 5:00.
The drive-throughs will be in LTC’s west parking lots where backdrops will be provided for family photos, and academic deans, leadership team members and district board members will congratulate students in person.
LTC President Dr. Paul Carlsen expressed pride in the graduates who completed their education during a global pandemic, saying that their dedication and grit they displayed are traits that will serve them well as they go forward.
