Another Sheboygan County resident at least 80 years old has fallen victim to COVID-19, the 141st recorded in the course of the pandemic here. Of the casualties, one has been between 10 and 19 years old, three were in their 30s, five were in their 40s, five were in their 50s, twenty-two were in their 60s, thirty one were in their 70s, and seventy-four were 80 or older.
Only one positive test was confirmed out of 97 results received since Tuesday, raising the running total cases found to 13,698. With 5 recoveries, the active case count fell to 123, and another hospitalization raises the patient population to 2.
13 deaths were added to the state’s toll on Wednesday by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, putting the toll at 6,863. 639 positives raise the running total to 600,936, and 73 more persons were hospitalized for treatment of COVID-19. Patient population total, ICU bed and ventilator usage data were delayed by the Wisconsin Hospitals Association on Wednesday. As of Tuesday’s update, the 7-day moving average patient population was 331, 15.9% were on ventilators, and 99 were in ICU beds.
The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health will host walk-in vaccination clinics on Thursday, May 6th and Friday, May 21st. The COVID vaccine is free to everyone and one does not need insurance or an ID. In order to receive the Moderna vaccine being administered by the county you must be 18 or older, and the second dose will be given 4 weeks after the first one is received.
As of Wednesday morning, 48,532 persons, or 42.1% of Sheboygan County’s population, had received at least one dose of vaccine, while 40,652, or 35.2%, had completed their course of immunization against the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Also as of Wednesday morning, those 55-64 had crossed the 50% threshold (50.5%) of full vaccination.
