SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) – Another person…one of 49 tested since Friday in Sheboygan County…has returned a positive result for COVID-19, resulting in a total of 68 cases recorded so far. 18 cases are active while recoveries number 47. 1 person is hospitalized in the County.
Statewide, the cumulative total reached 9,939 with the addition of another 349 persons testing positive, while another 4,670 came up negative. 14 more persons died, bringing the state toll to 398. On a better note, the percentage of total tests returning positive declined from Friday’s 8.1%, to 7%, re-starting the 14-day countdown to initiating the Badger Bounce Back reopening plan for Wisconsin, even as a majority of states have announced plans to begin reopening to some extent by Mothers’ Day.
On Friday, the State DHS began releasing data on facility-wide investigations county-by-county. While data did not include identification per facility, it did reveal that 3 such investigations have occurred within Sheboygan County, all among long-term healthcare facilities. One of those is Sunny Ridge, where the first two fatalities due to COVID-19 occurred, another is among the two unnamed, but connected to the third death which was reported on Friday.
Testing is becoming increasingly available throughout the state. The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health advised that those who have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to a known case to contact their doctor and request a test. Online screenings were also available through a link posted with the daily release; all of those issued so far are available at:
