PHILADELPHIA, PA (WHBL) – Christian Yelich and Lorenzo Cain were back in the lineup Monday night for the Milwaukee Brewers but the Crew came up short in the opener of a four game series at Philadelphia, losing 4-3.
Cain led off the game with a solo home run for Milwaukee but the Phillies answered with four runs in the first two innings against Adrian Houser. He went six innings, giving up all four runs on four hits with 2 strikeouts and one walk. Only two of the runs were earned after a Luis Urias throwing error in the second inning.
The Brewers added two runs in the 8th inning with Travis Shaw and Avisail Garcia getting the RBIs. The Brewers then loaded the bases in the 9th but couldn’t cash in.
Yelich went 2-4 in his return. To make room for Cain and Yelich on the roster, Tyrone Taylor and the struggling Keston Hiura were sent to the Alternate Training Site at Appleton.
The Brewers and Phillies face off again Tuesday night. Pregame coverage on WHBL gets underway at 5:30.
