The COVID-19 case activity in Sheboygan County remains High by standards of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, but with no significant change in trajectory any trend in numbers is hard to pick out…except one. The “Percent Positive by Test” 7-day average has demonstrated a nearly steady rise in the past weeks. On March 24th that figure was 2.4%, while as of April 6th, the rate was 6.2% and rising.
By the numbers, though, recoveries outpaced new cases to drop the active case count by six, to 191. There were 49 recoveries, while 43 new cases pushes the running total to 13,451. Hospitalizations were down three since Friday at 5.
Since Friday, the Wisconsin DHS added 1,776 new cases of COVID-19 to the state’s tally, now at 585,710. 402 of those were added Monday, and 3 more deaths put that toll at 6,680. There were 34 more hospitalizations since Sunday, and there was a net gain fo 16 in the COVID-19 patient population, which now now numbers 304. 75 of those are in ICU beds. There are 351 patients in all ventilated in Wisconsin hospitals. Among those may be some of the 22 patients that have been admitted, but are awaiting their test results.
Last week, 8,809 doses of vaccine were administered in Sheboygan County, the highest weekly total so far. 36.8% of Sheboygan County residents, 42,431, have now received at least one dose, and 23% – 26,513 – have received their full course of shots.
