ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – The Milwaukee Brewers slugged three home runs as they crushed the Cardinals 9-3 in St. Louis on Sunday.
Manny Pina, Avisail Garcia, and Travis Shaw went yard for Milwaukee. Brett Anderson got the win after only giving up one run over five innings. The Brewers have won four of five.
Austin Dean drove in two runs for the Cardinals. Daniel Ponce de Leon gave up seven runnings over an inning-and-a-third as St. Louis dropped its second straight.
A couple Brewers’ players left Sunday’s game with injuries. Christian Yelich left the game in the second inning with a sore back. Travis Shaw exited in the fifth, an inning after fouling a ball off his right ankle.
The Brewers open a six-game homestand Monday night against the Cubs. Freddy Peralta will get the start for Milwaukee. He struck out eight in five scoreless innings in beating the Cubs last week in Chicago.
