ST. LOUIS, MO (WHBL) – Corbin Burnes was brilliant in his Brewers’ start, but the bullpen was lackluster in a 3-1 loss to the Cardinals in the St. Louis home opener on Thursday. Burnes allowed one single, struck out nine, and walked none in six scoreless innings.
Drew Rasmussen gave up a two-run, eighth-inning homer to Nolan Arenado to take the loss. Kolten Wong went 0-for-3 and walked in his first game as an opponent at Busch Stadium after playing eight seasons for the Cardinals.
Friday is an off-day for the two teams. The three-game series resumes Saturday before wrapping up on Sunday.
