CHICAGO, IL (WHBL) – Lorenzo Cain homered twice, including a three-run shot in the 10th inning, as the Milwaukee Brewers cut down the Chicago Cubs 4-2 at Wrigley Field on Wedenesday afternoon.
Cain broke up a scoreless game with a solo shot in the eighth, but Joc Pederson answered with a solo blast of his own in the bottom half to tie it for Chicago. Jason Heyward singled in a run in the 10th for the Cubs before Bruce Boxberger came on to get Ian Happ to end it.
Josh Hader got the win and Brandon Workman took the loss. Starter Brandon Woodruff went seven shutout innings for Milwaukee and Kyle Hendricks six for the Cubs.
The Brewers now head to St. Louis for a three-game series beginning Thursday afternoon. Corbin Burnes will start for Milwaukee in the first game, while the Cards counter with Adam Wainwright for their home opener.
