MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin Supreme Court is expected to release a decision Wednesday on whether Governor Tony Evers can issue multiple public health declarations.
Evers addressed the topic during a Department of Health Services briefing on Tuesday.
“We’ll be observing their response with great interest,” Evers said.
While he’s hopeful the case will go his way, the governor seemed fairly non-committal on whether the mask mandate would see yet another extension if it were to survive the court ruling.
“I’ve always said, and I know that the scientists [have too] that we have to be in a downward trend. And also we have these new variants that are stronger in their transmission,” Evers said. “Would we possibly extend the order? Possibly. But we’ll make that decision on [April] 5th.”
Evers didn’t say much about what his plan might be should the court rule against the order.
