Governor Evers announced that he’s joining today’s #StopAsianHate Virtual Wisconsin Day of Action and Healing, and he encouraged others to participate in support of our Asian American and Pacific Islander communities. The latest statistics show that Sheboygan County is home to around 7,000 Asian and Pacific Islanders.
A recent spike in the number of attacks on these groups has been seen in the wake of the pandemic that had origins in China. Governor Evers said that: “The harassment, attacks, and violence against our Asian American and Pacific Islander family members, friends, and neighbors has to stop,” and “I call on Wisconsinites to help end this dangerous rhetoric and condemn racist harassment, attacks, and violence. We can all do more.”
The Virtual Day of Action and Healing events will take place on Zoom at 5:30 this afternoon, and you can sign up a signup here.
