116 COVID-19 test results were received by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health since Wednesday, and eleven of those – about 9.5% – were positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, and the active case count rose by 2, to 154.  This contrasts sharply with the numbers reported in the peak of the pandemic here.  For example on November 24th last year, new confirmed cases increased by 289 for the day, and the number of active cases jumped 186 to 2,634.  Still, COVID-19 remains a potentially life-threatening illness, and hospitalizations in the county increased by 2 since yesterday to a total of nine patients.  13,196 persons in the county have experienced COVID-19 so far, and 133 have died.

At least one vaccine shot has now been given to 30,616 in the county, 26.5% of the population.  Those 65 and older are the most-vaccinated age demographic in this category at 73.2%.  15,353, or 13.3%, are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 537 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, upping the total to 574,436.  Positives were 10.7% of returns.  Two more deaths were added today to a toll that now reads 6,599.  60 more hospital admissions for treatment of COVID-19 were recorded, and after accounting for deaths and discharges, the patient population dropped nine to 239, 65 of those in ICU beds.  18 patients suspect, but have not yet confirmed COVID-19, and 393 ventilators are in use.
