The number of active COVID-19 cases in Sheboygan County rose for a second consecutive day – a sequence not seen since early November – as reported in Wednesday’s daily update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. 24 of the 88 results received since Tuesday were positive for COVID-19, a 27% positive rate. With 19 recoveries in the same period, active cases rose 5 to 146. Hospitalizations also increased by one, with 7 patients now being treated in Sheboygan County. The two-week rates and trajectories, updated today, showed a “High” activity level, with a burden of 163.3 cases per 100,000 persons, and the trajectory since February 10th has been downward by 16%.
Wisconsin added 747 confirmed cases on Wednesday, raising the running total to 561,311. 25 more deaths associated with COVID-19 were recorded, putting the toll at 6,342. 55 more persons were hospitalized, and the patient population – after adjusting for deaths and discharges – rose 8 to 355, 93 of those in ICU beds. 403 ventilators are in use.
As of Wednesday morning, 13,926 Sheboygan County residents had received at least 1 dose of vaccine, and 6,167 – or 5.3% – have been fully vaccinated.
