Trends are just that – an overall direction over time that is the average of many observations, both positive and negative, of a given subject. Amid mostly positive trends of late, there are days like today, when COVID-19 asserted its influence in several ways in Sheboygan County, none good.
Two more persons’ deaths were associated with the coronavirus; both were at least 80 years old. Persons in that age category now comprise 67 of the 128 deceased. Twenty-seven were in their 70s, twenty-two were in their 60s, five were in their 50s, four were in their 40s, two were in their 30s, and one Sheboygan County victim was between 10 and 19 years old.
30 of 94 tests received since Monday by the County Division of Public Health, were positive for COVID-19, a 32% rate. With the two deaths and 18 recoveries, the active case count rose 10 to 141. Hospitalizations doubled, from 3 on Monday to 6 today. 12,802 Sheboygan County residents have now been confirmed positive.
As a state, after two consecutive days with no reports of death due to COVID, Wisconsin added 33 deaths on Tuesday to a toll that has now reached 6,317. 566 of 3,553 tests received in the last day were positive, yielding a rate of 16%, and 560,564 Wisconsinites have now battled the disease. 63 more were admitted to hospitals, and there was a net gain of 1 patient, to a total of 347. 92 of those are in ICU beds.
Concerning vaccination rates, 11.9% of Sheboygan County residents – 13,715 in all – have received at least one dose, while 5,943 have completed both doses as of Tuesday morning.
