Sheboygan County’s count of Active COVID-19 cases continued to drop with the first report of the week from the County Division of Public Health. 9.5% of tests…24…came back positive, raising the total confirmed case count here to 12,772. The rate has remained below 10%, continuing one of several recent positive trends. Active cases dropped by 31 to 131, as 55 more persons recovered from the disease. With 2 persons leaving hospital treatment since Friday, 3 patients remain in the county.
As of Monday morning, 11.7% of county residents have received at least one dose of vaccine, 13,490 in all. 5,702 have received both doses.
As a state, Wisconsin continued to display good metrics when measured by the 7-day percent positive by test. The metric dropped below 10% on January 10th, has remained there since, and was at 2.6% as of Sunday. For the second consecutive days, no state deaths were attributed to COVID-19, and the toll remains at 6,284. 423 new cases were confirmed, putting the running total at 559,998. 32 more hospitalizations were recorded, and after allowing for discharges, one less patient was recorded today, with 346 currently hospitalized. 95 of those are in ICU beds, and 378 patients are on ventilators. Among those are some of the 46 patients still awaiting their test results while being cared for.
