Renters have been given reprieves against evictions during the pandemic, but those protections will eventually expire and any back rent will have to be paid. Making good on money due the landlord is likely to be a challenge for some, but Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Sheboygan hopes to keep trouble at bay with their “Rent Smart Tenant Training Program”. The program is made possible through the City of Sheboygan Community Development Block Grant Program.
The free session from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, February 24th, is open to only the first seventeen individuals who register so that social distancing can be maintained, and once completed, a certificate will be issued, which some landlords accept as a “good faith” effort to be a responsible renter.
Those interested must register in advance by calling 800-350-CCCS.
