Little overall change in the daily numbers was seen in Wednesday’s report from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health, but longer-term trends nudged upwards.
After a rise yesterday, today’s active case count dropped again, by 5, to 179. That, as 22 new confirmed cases were offset by 27 recoveries. 12,720 county residents are now of record of having COVID-19, and 125 have died as a result. That number has not increased since February 8th. Hospitalizations gained one, and 6 COVID patients reside in Sheboygan County hospitals.
The updated Sheboygan County two-week rates and trajectories reported by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services showed a notch upwards. The activity level is still considered “High”, and as last week’s burden rate was 169.4 per 100,000 persons, it increased to 200 this week, and the trajectory rose by 57% after not having changed significantly in recent weeks. That compares with a State of Wisconsin overall ranking of “High” activity, with a burden of 199.9 per 100,000 persons, and a -21% trajectory over the last two weeks.
The State DHS added 657 new cases of COVID-19 to a running total that has reached 556,989. 10 deaths since Tuesday raises the toll to 6,214, and 76 more hospital admissions for COVID-19 were noted. After accounting for deaths and discharges, the COVID-19 patient population dropped 26 to 385, 107 of those in ICU beds. 36 patients are awaiting test results, and may be among the 393 requiring ventilators.
As vaccinations expand, Sheboygan County has now administered at least one dose to 11,375 residents…9.9% of the overall population as of Wednesday, February 17th. 4,088 county residents have completed their two-dose series.
