Kohler Plant
With world-class golf courses, spas and other amenities that excel, few places in the US can compare with Kohler as a luxury destination. But owning a vacation home there didn’t score well in an analysis of the “Best Cities to Own a Vacation Home” published online by the lawn care company LawnStarter. They offered the list for those hoping to invest in a home that can then be rented to vacationers.
The company ranked 318 locations on such things as price per square foot, property taxes, rental incomes and attractions along with potential return on investment, safety and others. Kohler was second-lowest of the field overall, with Bass Lake, California holding the basement. It scored last on “competition and cost rank” and 297th on ROI potential, and its best score of any category was safety, scoring number 258 of the 318 places ranked.
For what it’s worth, the best place to own a vacation home in the US was Shelbyville, Kentucky. Green Bay made the list at number 28 and Milwaukee was 107.
