The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County dropped below 400, with 391 cases reported in Wednesday’s daily update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. That’s the fewest since 364 were reported on October 9th of 2020. 17 of 141 test returns – 12% of those received since Tuesday – were positive, raising the county’s case total to 12,491. Those were offset by 61 recoveries, and 2 fewer persons were hospitalized, setting the patient total at 4.
1,177 more confirmed cases were logged in the last 24 hours in Wisconsin, putting the running total at 545,437. The new cases were 20% of test returns. 14 more deaths were recorded, pushing the death toll to 5,951. 94 more persons were hospitalized, and after accounting for deaths and discharges, the state COVID patient population dropped by 20 to 637. 173 of those are in the ICU, and 410 ventilators – 17% of the state supply – were in use.
In Sheboygan County, 8,589 persons have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. The highest daily total was administered on January 28th, when 871 persons received their shots. This week so far, the daily total here is averaging 309 per day.
