WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Kathy Kraninger has resigned as director of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) at the request of President Joe Biden’s administration, she tweeted on Wednesday.
In a letter sent to Biden and posted on her Twitter account barely an hour after Biden was sworn in as President, Kraninger said she would be stepping down effective Wednesday.
The Supreme Court ruled last year that the CFPB director serves at the discretion of the president.
