According to Forbes, Bill Gates is the top private farmland owner in the whole country. On top of Gates having a net worth of over $120 billion, he also owns about 242,000 acres of farmland in 18 states. The majority of his land is located in Louisiana where he owns 69,071 acres.
Gates is more involved in agriculture than some may assume. Back in 2009 the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation gave $306,000 in grants to help farmers in Africa and South Asia. The foundation also invested in creating crops that are climate change resistant called “super crops.”
