(WHBL) – Wisconsin is inviting anyone to enjoy fishing without a license or trout stamp in the first of two annual free-fishing weekends. This Saturday and Sunday will be free for anyone on any body of water where there’s an open season. All other regulations, like size and bag limits – still apply, and no fishing is allowed in spring trout ponds.
The Wisconsin DNR is reminding anglers to avoid ice unless you know it’s safe – checking with local bait shops is a good way to do that – and shore fishing is preferred if possible. And if you miss this one, the next Free Fishing Weekend is June 5-6, 2021.
