RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) – Two men are safe after being rescued from Random Lake on Tuesday evening. Calls for help were heard by several residents on the lake who called 9-1-1 around 5:19, and the Sheboygan County Dive Team responded along with over a half dozen other departments.
A 47-year-old man and his 25-year-old nephew were recovered and transported to Aurora Grafton Hospital for evaluation. The two told authorities that they’d attempted to walk on Random Lake and fell in when the ice broke.
The Wisconsin DNR advises that no ice is 100% safe, and quality varies from place to place so it’s best to avoid ice entirely, especially when mild weather like we’ve experienced prevents a thick layer from forming.
