Earlier this year Governor Evers made the announcement that there will be no Christmas tree in the Wisconsin State Capitol this year. That decision didn’t sit well with many Wisconsinites, especially Representatives Paul Tittl of Manitowoc and Shae Sortwell of Two Rivers. Tittle and Sortwell chose to put a smaller tree in the rotunda of the capitol building anyways. The two made it clear that they didn’t put the Christmas tree up to go against Governor Evers, but to give state employees some sense of hope. The Wisconsin State Capitol has had a Christmas tree in the building every year since 1916. They also encourage children in Wisconsin to make ornaments and send them in so that they can be put on the tree!
Ornaments can be sent to Room 219 North State Capitol PO Box 8953 Madison, WI 53708
