SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – 46% of the test returns reported on Thursday by the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health were positive for COVID-19, adding 109 new cases to the county total…now at 9,363. Active cases were down 17 to 2,213 after 126 persons recovered. Hospitalizations rose 7 to 31. 9,363 cases of COVID-19 have so far been recorded during the pandemic in Sheboygan County, resulting in 62 deaths. The number of new daily positive cases now exhibits an upward trajectory in Sheboygan County, as 57 were reported on Tuesday, 72 on Wednesday, and now 109.
38.5% of test returns reported on Thursday by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services were positive, with 4,618 new cases logged. That brings the state total to 399,708, poised to top 400,000 within a day. 60 deaths were reported on Thursday, putting the death toll due to COVID-19 at 3,562. 172 persons needed hospitalization to manage their symptoms, and the coronavirus patient count in Wisconsin settled at 1,754, 26 less than on Wednesday after accounting for discharges and deaths. 397 persons now occupy ICU beds. 158 patients are hospitalized while awaiting test results, and 593 patients are on ventilators.
In Thursday’s weekly Facility-Wide Investigations report from the County DPH, 46 investigations were listed. 17 of those are long-term care facilities, 3 were group housing facilities, 1 healthcare facility was undergoing contact tracing and testing, 9 workplace investigations were underway, 1 “other” setting investigation was reported, and 15 education settings were hosting investigations.
Of the 17 Skilled Nursing Long-term Care Facilities with Active Investigations, five were identified:

- Sheboygan Health Services
- Sheboygan Senior Community
- Sunny Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
All but one of the Education Settings with Active Investigations was identified:

- Howards Grove Elementary-Northview
- Howards Grove High
- Kohler High
- Oostburg Elementary
- Oostburg High
- Oostburg Middle

- Sheboygan Falls Middle
- Sheboygan Falls High
The Wisconsin National Guard has two dates of free testing remaining at the Aging and Disability Resource Center parking lot at 650 Forest Avenue in Sheboygan Falls. Those are Friday, December 4th and Wednesday, December 9th from 10 AM until 4 PM each day. Testing is first-come, first-served, although advanced registration is advised online through COVID-19 Wisconsin Connect. The service is free for anyone exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or who has had close contact with a know positive case.
