SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – A Sheboygan County resident age 80 or older has become the 62nd victim of COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March, according to the daily report from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. In total, two persons who died were in their 30s, three in their 40s, five in their 50s, ten in their 60s, fifteen in their 70s, and 26 were 80 or older.
72 of 157 test results received since yesterday were positive, a 45.8% rate, and raising the total cases here to 9,254. 167 persons recovered, lowering active cases by 72 to 2,230. 24 persons are hospitalized in the county.
In Wisconsin, 82 more persons were added to the total 3,502 state casualty total. 3,777 of 9,983 test results received since yesterday – 37.8% – were positive, raising the state total case number to 395,090. The 7-day percent positive by person, tests by person, was 31% and in a rising trajectory since November 27th. 197 more hospitalizations were recorded, placing the COVID patient total at 1,780…47 fewer than on Tuesday. Coronavirus patients account for 397 ICU beds, and 158 patients are in hospitals awaiting their test results while receiving treatment. 593 persons are on ventilators.
The Sheboygan County DPH addressed new Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance pertaining to quarantine. The newly issued guidelines allow for a 10-day quarantine period rather than the 14-day regimen previously recommended. The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is currently reviewing that guidance and will offer local guidance for health departments shortly. In the meantime, individuals here are advised to continue to follow the 14-day quarantine that has been employed for the run of the pandemic to date.
