(WHBL) – Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig on Monday reported that three persons died in two separate crashes within 12 hours of each other, both on County Highway X. One victim was from Sheboygan.
The first crash was last Wednesday afternoon when a 16-year-old male westbound on “X” failed to stop at the Highway “A” intersection and was struck by a southbound semi. The 63-year-old Milwaukee man driving the semi was not injured, but two passengers in the Audi A6 died at the scene. They were identified as 21-year-old Patrick Errol Knapp of De Pere, and a 14-year old De Pere boy who was not identified.
The second crash occurred just after midnight early on Thanksgiving day when 22-year-old Jordan James Leslie of Sheboygan crossed the centerline while traveling eastbound on Highway “X” at Centerville Road and entered the north ditch, colliding with several trees and resulting in Leslie’s death at the scene. Speed appears to have been a contributing factor in that crash.
