SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Wednesday’s daily COVID update from the Sheboygan County Division of Pubic Health will be the last until Monday, November 30th. Health officials locally and nationwide have anticipated any number of results from a population in the midst of a pandemic following long-standing Thanksgiving traditions and gathering in numbers. Recommendations are to stay home and to limit observances to the immediate household in order to control the spread of the coronavirus that has already taken the lives of 51 Sheboygan County residents, and 1,416,112 nationwide as of 3 PM Wednesday.
94 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Sheboygan County were added with Wednesday’s update, raising the total so far to 8,734. 2,603 of those are now active, a drop of 31 from Tuesday as 126 recoveries were recorded in the same time. 25 persons, two more than on Tuesday, are now hospitalized here. And with 199 tests returned in all, the positive rate was 47.7%.
Wisconsin saw another 5,469 positive tests for COVID-19 recorded on Wednesday, putting the running total in the state at 369,442 cases. 75,233 of those are active. 17,262 tests were returned in all, yielding a 31.7% positive return rate. 63 more deaths were recorded on Wednesday, raising the death toll to 3,178. 248 more persons were hospitalized in the last 24-hours, and after accounting for discharges and deaths, the patient population dropped by 95 to 1,892 patients. 441 of those are in the ICU. Another 163 persons were hospitalized and awaiting test results, and 620 persons are on ventilators.
The weekly Facility-Wide Investigations report from the Sheboygan County DPH was released a day early in advance of Thanksgiving. In it, 49 ongoing investigations were noted, the same as last week. 21 long-term facilities now host investigations, as do 4 group housing facilities, 6 non-healthcare workplaces and 18 education settings.

Weekly testing by the Wisconsin National Guard conducted at the ADRC in Sheboygan Falls will be idle the day after Thanksgiving, and will resume on Wednesday, December 2nd.
