SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – After the first weekend of the gun deer season in Sheboygan County, a total of 1,049 tags were validated by hunters. 504 bucks were taken, and 545 antlerless deer were registered.
The numbers didn’t include those of the other hunts configured by the DNR within the larger deer hunting season. Archers in Sheboygan County have now taken 280 antlered and 217 antlerless deer as of Monday afternoon, while crossbow hunters took 311 and 235 respectively. And, during the Youth Deer Hunt in Sheboygan County, 21 antlered and 28 antlerless tags were registered.
Statewide, the first weekend of the gun deer season saw a harvest of 95,257 deer, and the total take among all seasons so far is 206,103.
The 9-day 2020 gun deer season concludes this coming Sunday evening.
