SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The Sheboygan Area School District Board decided at Tuesday’s meeting to extend virtual learning at all schools through the end of the first semester, and the next day students are expected in classrooms is January 25th. That announcement was made in a letter to families following the meeting.
Metrics used in determining how classes should be taught during the pandemic were all clearly over the limits that indicate safety for in-person classes. To mention a few: Case activity is now 1886 per 100,000 people vs a goal of 350; the 7-day average of new cases should be at 25 or less – we’re at 153.5 per 100,000 people; and with the 7-day average goal of stable or declining positivity, the current trend is upward with a trailing average of 25%.
According to the SASD board, 313 students and 127 staff are currently positive for COVID-19.
During the long shutdown, free grab-n-go meals have been extended and expanded. Families will find details on the school district website: sheboygan.k12.wi.us
