SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Friday’s daily COVID-19 update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health reported more recoveries than new cases, 156 vs 152 respectively, lowering the active case count by 4 to 2,595. 8,173 Sheboygan County residents have so far been confirmed with the coronavirus. Of the active cases, 27 are hospitalized, one less than on Thursday. With negative tests numbering 134 in the last 24-hours, the positive return rate was 53%.
As a state, Wisconsin added 6,473 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 since Thursday, raising the confirmed total to 344,945, or just under 6% of the total population. The positive test percentage was around 34%. 78 more persons died, raising the death toll to 2,954. Another 190 persons were hospitalized, setting the patient population at 2,104 – 113 less than Thursday after tallying the discharges. 427 of those are in the ICU. Another 150 patients are awaiting their test results, and 626 persons are on ventilators.
23 patients are now being treated at the Alternate Care Facility at State Fair Park in West Allis.
On Friday the weekly Facility Wide Investigations report was released. The one-day delay was due to a shift in staffing of the school liaisons, and a significant drop in those actions was noted over last week. 49 investigations in all are underway, a drop from 78 the prior week, meaning that since last week around 29 investigations have completed contact tracing and quarantine measures, and 28 days have passed since the last possible exposure to a COVID-19 case in the facility without any new cases. 98 investigations in all have now been resolved.
23 long term care investigations are now underway, 4 are occurring at group housing facilities. 6 workplaces are now hosting investigations, and 16 education settings are active.
