SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Ruth DeYoung Kohler, who guided the John Michael Kohler Arts Center from a small local arts center to an internationally-recognized institution, died at her home on Saturday at age 79.
Kohler served as JMKAC’s Director from 1972-2016, when she stepped down to concentrate on the development of the Art Preserve which will open in June of next year. Ruth Kohler’s legacy is one of inclusion and access to the arts for all.
She is survived by her brother, Herbert V. Kohler, nieces, a nephew, and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
