SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – Sheboygan County has lost another resident to COVID-19 with the passing of a person in their 70s noted in Friday’s update from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health. That person becomes the 32nd casualty of the pandemic since it began here in March. Deaths due to COVID-19 have now occurred to one in their 30s, one in their 40s, three in their 50s, six in their 60s, ten in their 80s, and eleven were 80 or older. With 134 new cases recorded since Thursday, active cases rose to 2,002. Recoveries were offset with the addition of those inmates at KMCI who have recovered, adding a total of 968 to that roll. KMCI currently has no active cases. Hospitalizations rose by 2 in the last 24 hour to 31 persons. With 375 negative test returns, the positive rate was 26.3%.
The Sheboygan County Activity Level is now set at “very high,” with a current burden rate of 1,471.4 cases per 100,000 people. At that level, no indoor gatherings are recommended outside of the household, and outdoor gatherings should be limited to 10 or fewer persons with social distancing and face coverings observed. Curbside-only pickup is suggested for bars and restaurants, and salons are advised to open for minimum operations only. Offices and workplaces should consider allowing only essential workforce on-site with physical distancing and face coverings when feasible, and retail operations should limit the number of patrons allowed in the premises.
Wisconsin added a new daily high of 6,141 positive tests for COVID-19 Friday, raising the state total to 256,065 confirmed cases.
