(WHBL) – Eight Sheboygan area cultural organizations were awarded grants intended to help survive the impacts of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Governor Evers announced the COVID-19 Cultural Organization Grants on Thursday that will award $15 million in critical funds to 385 organizations in Wisconsin.
In Sheboygan County, the Plymouth Arts Foundation, Sheboygan Symphony Orchestra, Weill Center Foundation, Bookworm Gardens, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, Above & Beyond Children’s Museum, Lakeshore Chorale and the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center will share nearly $425,000 to help survive the shutdown that has helped slow the pandemic, but threatened their existence in the process.
In making the announcement, Governor Evers said, “These cultural organizations represent the vibrant fabric of communities across our state and support Wisconsin’s tourism industry and local economies,” and that “This grant program will help organizations cover essential costs related to keeping their employees and communities safe throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.”
