MADISON, WI (WSAU) – 153 patients have been hospitalized because of COVID-19, the biggest one-day increase since the pandemic began in Wisconsin.
Hospital bed and ICU usage has been above 80% for two weeks, with even higher levels in some parts of the state. An overflow field hospital at State Fair Park in West Allis began receiving its first patients on Wednesday.
The number of new Coronavirus cases around the state is down slightly from record-highs a day earlier. 14,542 people were tested. 3,107 of those tests came back positive.
The state’s seven-day average of positive tests is up to 21.1%, a new weekly high.
The Department of Health Services reported 28 additional deaths.
