Sheboygan has been recognized for its dedication to promoting and encouraging volunteerism throughout the community. The title of a “JustServe City” was given at Monday night’s Common Council Meeting by Anjenette Pond, Sheboygan’s JustServe regional representative, who said that the award goes beyond recognizing just one individual or organization, saying that “It celebrates a community that understands the power of serving one another”, and is…”a wonderful example of what can happen when people come together with a shared desire to do good.”
Pond herself was also honored with the Bridge Builder Award for designing a program to provide at-risk schoolchildren with food during the weekends and recruiting high school students to aid in its implementation. Wisconsin JustServe specialist, Melodie Lefevre, presented Pond with a commemorative America250 coin.
