SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The coronavirus that causes COVID-19 is being confirmed within Sheboygan Area District schools at an increasing rate, triggering contact tracing investigations by the County Division of Public Health and, in some cases, forcing a transition to all-virtual learning.
Over the weekend both the Early Learning Center and Pigeon River Elementary announced they were transitioning to online classes only and on Monday that transition was announced at Etude Elementary. The virtual learning that begins there today was implemented because of the number of students and staff in quarantine either due to illness or from contacting known positive cases. A return to hybrid learning at Etude is anticipated on Monday the 26th.
Parents of students attending North High and Farnsworth Middle Schools were told Monday that persons visiting those schools had tested positive for COVID-19 but didn’t have close contact with anyone, while persons at Cleveland, Cooper and James Madison Elementary Schools did experience close contact with known positive cases and contact tracing is still underway. Those found to have had close contact will need to quarantine at home.
