A high-pressure natural gas line was apparently struck by crews working on street construction in Cedar Grove on Tuesday, causing evacuations for several hours.
Sheboygan County 911 reports that the line was struck around 3 PM and people were evacuated on South Main Street from Center Avenue to Union Avenue and the area was blocked off. Residents and daycare students were moved to the Cedar Grove Public Library while WeEnergies crews worked to repair the rupture.
The evacuation area was reduced to about a single block before eventually being lifted. No injuries were reported.
