Vernon Habeck, 78, of Plymouth, WI, passed away peacefully at his home on September 23, 2026.
He was born on April 10, 1948 in Sheboygan, WI, a son of the late Wilbert and Malinda (Strack) Habeck.
Vern graduated from Random Lake High School in 1966. He served in the United States Air Force from 1966-1970 stationed in Hawaii and Japan before serving in the Vietnam War where he earned a Purple Heart. After the service, Vern was the administrator of his military unit reunions which he planned for his unit to stay in touch.
In 1992, Vern met the love of his life, Jane Littlefield and got married on October 21, 2000 at Salem UCC.
Vern owned and operated his own business, ATC Construction for over 30 years. He built countless houses, including his own and many relatives’ houses and additions. He had excellent math skills and excelled at reading blueprints. He was a manager for Feider Properties for over 30 years, caring for Francis Feider and his family. He was always willing to lend a hand; he was a hard worker that could make friends with anyone he met. He loved wood working, coin collecting, antiquing, and going on cruises and spending time in Florida. Vern was always eager to learn new things and to share that knowledge with others. He held a realtor’s license at one time. He even took a gardening class in Florida and earned his Master Gardener Certification.
He was a member of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243, Sheboygan Local DAV, and Salem Plankroad UCC.
Survivors include his wife, Jane; children, Tonya (Dan) Olson, Aaron (Jenni) Habeck, and Craig (Jessica) Habeck; foster daughter, Judy Thatch; Six grandchildren, Matt (Kristin), Heather, Noah (Faith), Joshua (fiancee Abbie), Jonah, and Colin; 4 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Robert “Bob” (Karen) Habeck, Janet (Ronald) Jentsch, and Raymond (Suzanne) Habeck; mother-in-law, Georgine Littlefield; brothers-in-law, Gary (Susan) Littlefield and Mark Littlefield; sisters-in-law, Diane Mueller, Nancy (Charles) Hellmer, and Cheryl Littlefield; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Carol Resch and Shirley Habeck; father-in-law, Eugene Littlefield; and brother-in-law, Greg Littlefield.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 1:00pm-4:00pm; with a Memorial Service to follow at 4:00pm. Pastor Dale Miller will officiate and Military Rites will be conducted by the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243 following the Service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Vernon’s name.
